Abstract This topic brief is going to look at performance pay and if this type of program can be used to increase student achievement and increase teacher accountability with maintaining a positive culture. This is currently a hot topic in many states and there are states that are looking to adopt this program and some states are dropping it. In some schools this type of program has proven to raise student achievement, but people argue that although these schools have had success, there is little evidence that shows that the results are sustainable for long term success.
